Membership Sites & Portals · Tampa BayContent worth paying for needs somewhere worth paying for.
When the product is the content, the platform stops being a marketing site and becomes the thing customers are paying for. We have built exactly that: a custom member portal serving a searchable library of nearly six hundred episodes, with the audio behind a paywall and every episode still working as an indexable page.
The actual scope.

- Login, registration and account recovery
- Member-only navigation and dashboards
Paywalls and gating
- Subscription and recurring access
- Tiered access levels

- Preview and sample access for non-members
Searchable libraries
- Structured content models using custom fields
- Search, filter and browse across large archives

Membership Sites & Portals FAQs.
How is a membership site different from a normal website?
A normal site is a marketing asset; a membership site is part of the product. It has to handle accounts, access rights, payments and content permissions reliably, because a member who cannot log in is a support ticket and eventually a cancellation. The engineering standard is meaningfully higher.
Can paywalled content still help our SEO?
Yes, if it is structured properly. On a recent build every episode has its own indexable page carrying title, description and context, while the audio itself sits behind the paywall. The library became a large searchable archive that search engines and AI assistants can read, without giving away what people pay for.
What do you build member portals on?
Usually WordPress with custom development rather than a page builder, because access control, structured content and search need real engineering. Custom field architecture is what makes a large library genuinely searchable instead of a list of posts.
How do you handle payments and subscriptions?
Through an established payment processor integrated with the membership layer, so recurring billing, failed payments and cancellations are handled by systems built for it. We do not build custom billing, that is a category of problem nobody should take on unnecessarily.
Can we move existing content behind a paywall?
Usually yes, though it needs care. Content already indexed and earning traffic can lose that visibility if it disappears behind a login. The workable pattern is keeping the page public and indexable while gating the asset itself, which is what we did with the episode library.
