Vehicle Graphics FAQs.
Are vehicle magnets or vinyl decals better?
Magnets are removable, transferable between vehicles and ideal if you use a personal vehicle for work. Vinyl decals last longer, cannot be stolen and look more permanent. Fleets often use magnets while the vehicle mix changes and switch to decals once it stabilizes.
Will magnets damage my vehicle's paint?
Not if handled properly. Remove them weekly, clean both the magnet back and the paint, and let both dry. Damage happens when magnets stay on for months and trap moisture and grit against the paint, or when they are applied over an unclean surface.
How large should the phone number be on a work truck?
Larger than instinct suggests. A phone number readable at 60 mph on the highway needs roughly 3 to 4 inch character height at minimum, and bigger is better. The most common vehicle graphic mistake is a detailed logo nobody can read and a phone number nobody can catch.
Can magnets go on any part of a vehicle?
Only on flat, steel, unpainted-over-plastic panels. Doors are the usual surface. They will not hold on aluminum body panels, plastic bumpers or heavily curved areas, and many newer trucks and vans use aluminum doors, so we confirm the vehicle before producing.
Do vehicle graphics require a permit or affect insurance?
Graphics themselves generally do not require permits, but using a vehicle commercially may change your insurance classification and, for some trades, DOT numbers must be displayed at a specified size. Check with your insurer and, if applicable, your regulator before finalizing the layout.
