Specialty Finishes · Tampa BaySpecialty finishes for the pieces that have to feel expensive.

Specialty Finishes FAQs.
Which specialty finish should I choose?
Pick one, not several. Foil on everything reads cheaper than foil on one element. Raised spot UV adds tactile emphasis subtly, painted edge signals substance, and soft-touch laminate changes how the whole piece feels in hand. The right choice depends on which single quality you want the piece to communicate.
What is the difference between foil stamping and Akuafoil?
Foil stamping applies actual metallic foil with heat and pressure to specific areas, giving true reflective shine. Akuafoil prints four-color process over a metallic base so the metallic shows through the ink, letting you produce metallic effects in full color and photographic imagery. Different looks, different price points.
Does raised spot UV work on any design?
It works best on defined shapes and bold elements, a logo, a rule, a pattern. Fine text under about 8pt and hairline strokes do not hold the raised coating well and can look muddy. We design artwork so the finish has a deliberate place to land.
Are specialty finishes worth the extra cost?
For pieces that carry credibility in a high-value context, usually yes. A card handed to a seven-figure prospect or a tag on a premium product is doing persuasive work that justifies the upcharge. For a mass handout at a community event, it is spend that will not return.
Do specialty finishes take longer to produce?
Yes. They require additional passes and, for foil and painted edge, separate processes on separate equipment, so they always add time to a standard run. How much depends on the finish, which is why we confirm the date with your quote. Build the extra time into your plan rather than discovering it a week before an event.
